Lessons from Barry's: On Showing Up, Consistency, and Growth
I wanted to share something that’s become a surprisingly meaningful part of my life: Barry’s Bootcamp. If you know, you know.
Barry’s is one of the hardest HIIT classes in the world…some, may even call it a cult.
When I first heard about it, I was super intimidated. All I could imagine were these really fit people in a space that I did not belong in. But a friend kept inviting me, gently nudging me to come along. She made it less overwhelming, and eventually, I said yes.
The first class? Really tough. I felt like I was going to die. But something clicked. She kept inviting me until I started going on my own - and then I became obsessed.
Before Barry’s, when I started my Medical Consultant post, I actually hired a personal trainer. I knew I needed support to stay motivated to up my exercise game, but more than that, I wanted to prove to myself that I could do hard things. That experience laid the foundation for consistency, discipline, and a belief in myself.
Eventually, I didn’t need a personal trainer anymore, because by then, I had built something even more powerful: a habit. Barry’s became part of my routine. Now I’ve got a whole crew: my friend Barry’s crew, my work Barry’s crew...it’s taken on a life of its own.
I feel stronger than I’ve ever been - physically and mentally. It’s been transformative for my health, mindset, and confidence.
And the biggest lessons?
Just start.
Keep showing up.
The weekly wins might feel small - but the long-term impact will change your life.
You don’t always need to feel ready. You don’t always need to feel motivated. You just need to keep showing up.
